BACJCC – Welcome

THIS SITE HOLDS ANGLING INFORMATION ON THE CONTROLLING AMALGAMATION OF CLUBS FOR THE AIRE & CALDER NAVIGATION CANAL.

The section controlled by this amalgamation runs from Great Heck ( 6 miles East of Pontefract, W. Yorks) to Goole in East Yorkshire. There is a total length of approx. 11 miles of canal available to fish at various access points.

Very Important Information

Following our AGM I would like to remind all our members that the gate at Beevers Bridge has a Canal & River Trust padlock fitted and only GENUINE CRT KEYS must be used. We have had instances where non genuine keys have jammed or broken in the lock resulting in expensive locks being replaced and a great deal of inconvenience. It also sours our relationship with the Trust. Correct keys are available from the on-line Canal & River Trust shop.

The bailiffs in charge at Beevers Bridge will check that anglers have the correct key. Spurious keys will be confiscated and the angler will be reported to his club or association.

Please would you make your members aware of this.

Thanks for your cooperation,

Kind regards,

Chris Pegden,

Secretary, Boothferry Aire & Calder Joint Canal Committee.

Additional Information

The track leading to the railway bridge access at Goole has been closed to motor vehicles for at least 7 weeks due to repair work to the flood banks on the Dutch River. Access is still possible on foot.

The association would like to remind anglers there is a strict “No Night Fishing Rule” in place . Please check our club rules.

Please note that there is now a locked gate at Beevers Bridge which has been put in place by the Canal and Rivers trust to prevent fly tipping. Keys are available from the CRT’s online Shop at a cost of £7.00
